Two cases of hemithoracic radiotherapy after extrapleural pneumonectomy for malignant mesothelioma

Abstract

Two cases of hemithoracic radiotherapy after extrapleural pneumonectomy for malignant mesothelioma are presented. Those cases were pathological stage I and III. The target volume included the entire hemithorax. Patients were treated with a total of 45Gy delivered in 25 fractions of 1.8Gy. The irradiation was performed without a severe adversed effect. Radiotherapy of extrapleural pneumonectomy postoperative may be effective. A malignant mesothelioma is the disorder that is poor prognosis. Therefore radiotherapy treatment have necessity reviewed more.
