Abstract

A review is given of the basic idea and some results of data-analysis of recent high-resolution direct numerical simulations (DNSs) of incompressible turbulence in a periodic box with up to 40963 grid points. Emphasis is put on the possible universality of small-scale statistics in turbulence at high Reynolds numbers. An analogy of turbulence with systems at or near thermal equilibrium state is also discussed.
