Abstract

The total site approach based on pinch technology, “Area-wide pinch technology”, which consists of total site profile (TSP) analysis and R-curve analysis, was applied to two of the biggest heavy chemical complexes in Japan, i.e., Mizushima and Chiba industrial areas. This study demonstrated that there was a huge amount of energy saving potential through energy sharing among various sites despite the very high efficiency of the individual sites in the complexes. As a result, energy saving projects have been developed on the basis of the study.
