CO2 chemical absorption based on self-heat recuperation technology for pre-combustion process

In integrated coal gasification combined cycle (IGCC) plants, CO/CO2/H2 mixtures produced by gasification/reforming and water gas shift reaction are fed into gas turbines for power generation. Although IGCC can achieve higher power generation efficiency than conventional power plants, CO2 capture process reduces this efficiency because CO2 separation from gas mixtures requires huge amount of energy. To overcome this problem, the pre-combustion process combined CO2 separation process based on self-heat recuperation technology (SHR) was studied. Electric generation efficiency could be improved by SHR compared with conventional IGCC. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 2011 AIChE Spring Meeting & 7th Global Congress on Process Safety (Chicago, IL 3/13-17/2011).
