Distributed processing information systems of a global network which integrate total information in an enterprise are required to be flexibly adaptable to the rapid change in economical environments. This paper describes the architecture of the system, and introduces three examples built by Kobe Steel; the small end-user computing system for planning the budget of the Technical Development Group, the POP (Point of Production) system of the tool manufacturing line at Akashi Works, and the distributed processing information system on a large-scale integrated network at Takasago Industrial Machinery Factory.
