Lattice vibrations and electronic transitions in the rare-earth metals: Praseodymium under pressure

抄録

Raman spectroscopy technique was used to investigate Praseodymium under pressure. In the dhcp phase, a negative pressure shift of the E2g mode was observed. The frequency of this mode was found to decrease in the hcp phase of the regular lanthenides when the transition to Sm-type was approached. The results indicate that the pressure response of the phonon modes is characteristic for anisotropic bonding properties.
