We evaluated MRI obtained in 10 patients with bone metastases of prostatic cancer. Main metastatic lesions were located in the pelvic bones and lumbar vertebrae. The metastatic lesions over 20 mm in diameter or showing much blastic change on CT tended to show low intense or mixed intense on T 2-weighted images. In four cases, MRI is more sensitive for detecting bone metastasis than other imaging modalities including scintigraphy. MRI should be performed not only for prostate but also for pelvic bones and lumbar vertebrae in patient with prostatic cancer.
