We established an outpatients' clinic of female urology in Okayama University Hospital in May 2003 The clinic has only female doctors who check and treat the patients We investigated the annual change in the number of outpatients who visited the clinic for the first time between 2003 and 2009 We also administered a questionnaire regarding the satisfaction of the outpatients and their intention to use our clinic Ninety-one patients visited the clinic in 2003 New patients numbered 86 in 2004 53 in 2005 108 in 2006 137 in 2007 116 in 2008 and 149 in 2009 The number of patients peaked within the age group of the 60's and 70's Incontinence (stress urge mixed) was the most common disease with about 30% of patients suffering from it 10% of the patients had an overactive bladder without incontinence In 2007 pelvic organ prolapse (POP) comprised 95% of cases It increased 20% in 2008 and 2009 The number of operations has been increasing since 2007 because The Tension-free Vaginal Mesh procedure (TVM) for POP and the Transobturator Tape procedure (TOT) for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) were introduced in 2007 The number of patients who had a check-up after looking at the internet has been increasing. Most patients were satisfied with their medical examination and treatment The number of new patients continues to increase and female urology offices will be in greater demand in the future.
