Two cases of ocular ischemic syndrome with different manifestations

a 65-year-old male presented with sudden visual loss in the left eye. He showed capillary nonperfusion in the peripheral retina and neovascular glaucoma. Digital subtraction angiography showed 90% stenosis of the left internal carotid artery. The affected eye became blind despite percutaneous transluminal angioplasty. A 71-year-old female presented with blurred vision in the left eye. Venous stasis retinopathy was present. Magnetic resonance imaging, MRI, showed stenosis of the left ophthalmic artery. She maintained visual acuity of 0.3 in the left eye. These cases illustrate that early diagnosis and treatment may improve prognosis quoad visum in cases of ocular ischemic syndrome.
